Zarita A. Morris

Zarita A. McCurry Morris, 74, of Delphi, passed away Jan. 15, 2008, at 1:36 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. She had been ill the past four months and was a patient there since the morning before.

She was born April 30, 1933, in Lake Village to the late Lawrence and Mattie Reagan McCurry. Her marriage was to Delmar K. Morris in Illinois on July 12, 1951, and he survives.

Mrs. Morris attended school in Newton County and received her GED later in life. She worked in housekeeping at the former Brethren Home in Flora for over 20 years and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Radnor United Methodist Church, Monticello Moose Lodge #906, and Navy Club USA Ship #12 Auxiliary of Lafayette. Her hobbies were crossword puzzles and reading health books.

Surviving are her husband in Delphi; a daughter, Annette Keen (husband: Mark) of Burlington; two sons, James C. Morris and Archie Gainey (wife: Judith), all of Delphi; a sister, Flossie Hohman of Tell City; a son-in-law, Bert Stevens of Delphi; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Stevens, three sisters, and two brothers.

Services were held Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. The Rev. Ed Selvidge officiated. Burial was at I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens in Pittsburg.
