Comet staff report

Overholser
Each year at the Indiana State Music Association Convention in Indianapolis, several groups perform that are made up of students selected from the entire state. On Jan. 18 and 19, six students from Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School will sang with the all-state choirs.

At the high school level, Nick Jones (tenor), Seth Pencek (tenor), and Kurtis Robeson (bass), were selected for the Mixed Choir, and Hope Hayden (soprano), was chosen for the Women's Choir.

Their parents, respectively, are Troy and Rhonda Jones, Steve and Stephenie Pencek, Kevin and Karen Robeson, and Phil and Beth Hayden.

High school groups are auditioned by in-person audition and sight-singing. There were approximately 520 students in both high school choirs. The groups practiced all day Friday and Saturday morning until their performances on Saturday afternoon.

Halle Chambers (alto), daughter of Gary and Gina Chambers, and Trey Overholser (tenor), son of Rex and Suzan Overholser, were selected for the Middle School/Jr. High All-State Choir.
