February's Cinema Night will feature "Skins," starring Graham Greene. One hundred years after the massacre at Wounded Knee, the painful legacy of Indian Wars still reverberates through the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The Oglala Sioux attempt to preserve their dignity while living on welfare checks, surplus commodity food and rampant alcoholism. The film is scheduled for Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. with discussion and refreshments to follow.

The Feb. 16 Coffee Beat begins at 7 p.m. and will feature The Molter Brothers, a popular classic rock band. Jeanette Merritt, Marketing and Public Relations Specialist for Indiana Wine and Grape Council, will present a Wine Tasting program Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. Merritt will touch on the history of wines and wineries in Indiana and offer samples. Participants must be 21 years old. Registration is appreciated by calling the library.

Come in from the cold and stitch to your heart's content with In Stitches Fiber Arts Circle Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. Come with a quilting, knitting, or sewing project in hand and have a productive evening working on your craft while meeting new friends. Bring refreshments to share with the group.

Winter blahs got you down? Beat the winter blues by joining the Cool Reads Winter Reading Club. Warm up with some hot reads and earn cool prizes. Everyone 18 and over is eligible to join. The club runs Jan. 28 through March 7.

There is still a wide variety of free periodicals available on the main floor of the library. The library is also discarding a large collection of National Geographic, perfect for reports and craft projects.

The third grade art enrichment class work is now on exhibit in the Richter Program Room. Works include lizards painted with texture to show patterns and white lines for dramatic illustrations. There are 2-D birthday cake pictures turned into 3-D by using shading, shadows, and oblique lines.

The students did a project based on the book, "Polar Express." There are streets showing distance by using perspective techniques. Also displayed are stamp art pictures and pastel self-portraits. Carroll Elementary Art Enrichment is taught by Grace Woodruff.

The next storytime will observe the theme of "Groundhog Day." Will Punxsutawney Phil (famous groundhog) see his shadow? What will happen if he does? Come to storytime and we'll tell you the stories! Storytime is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
