Roe to vie for county council seat
But Roe decided he was not finished with politics quite yet. In an exclusive Comet interview Thursday, Delphi resident Roe announced his intention to run for county council-at-large in the May primary. "My work here is not done. I want to see new faces in old places," Roe said. "We have the same old family names serving the county, and they are nice people, but it's time for new faces in our county government." "A massive overhaul is needed and I want to be part of that," he continued. "There are people who are asking how to fix this mess...and how it can be cleaned up. What we have is not working." "It can't be business as usual any more. We have to have a change in direction and a change in ideas," he added. "Right now, we are lost. People don't know where to go and who to turn to."
"This is not a political issue," Roe said. "I've been called at this time in my life to provide answers with integrity and a sense of purpose. I want to give a good, stern soul to the county council. If I say it, I mean it." "I have good strong convictions and an understanding of life," the 63-year-old former Delphi police chief said. "I know how to balance a checkbook. I can carry the responsibility." "I want to be the cornerstone for change," he concluded. "I want to invite others to build on what I have started. I want to keep the work I started in 1984 going. I'd like a few good people to step up with me and accept the challenge that is before us in this county." |
