Oracles retain wrestling invite title for fourth year

The Delphi wrestling team defended their title at the Nick Spittler Wrestling Invitational on Saturday at Lafayette Jefferson High School. The Oracles have been in possession of the champion trophy for all four years that they have competed in the tournament.

The Oracles won round one 84-0 against Frontier. In round two they beat South Newton 72-6. Round three, Delphi beat North Newton 57-18 and in round four, defeated Boone Grove 74-3. In the championship round the Oracles won 39-35 against New Prairie.

The Oracles had six champions - at 103 Randy McIlrath, 112 Bob Floyd, 119 Donovan Alderman, 125 Aaron Back, 160 Braden Atwood, and 285 Wesley Everett.

Alderman and Atwood kept their seasons undefeated. Alderman's record is now 31-0 while Atwood's is 34-0.

The Oracles will be in action Saturday at Twin Lakes High School, Monticello, at the Hoosier Conference Meet.
