A new Life Skills program for suspended and expelled students was approved by the Delphi Community School Board. It is funded by a grant written by the Carroll County Office of Family and Children.

The voluntary classes will be from 8:30-11:30 at the Middle School gym, on days when school is in session. One of the goals is to keep at-risk students in school.

An idea to establish a Town of Burlington reserve police program was once again tabled until detailed can be obtained.

Recent rains and melting snow in the north have contributed to rivers' swelling in this area. Flood advisories were issued for northern Indiana and luckily, so far, Carroll County has escaped the worst of it.

Geneva Harmon, Flora, will retire as bookkeeper and legal secretary for Bishop, Bishop and Bishop after 44 years with the law firm in Flora.

Mary Catherine Carter, clerk of the Carroll Circuit Court, reports that 241 civil causes were filed during the year 1982, as compared to 295 in 1981. Fees collected by the clerk's office for services, fines and costs in both Circuit and County Court Division amounted to $104,197.85. This money is in turn paid to the county and state, with $38,252.60 remaining in Carroll County and $65,945.25 being sent to the state.

Most people have occasional lapses of absentmindedness. Last week around Delphi there seemed to be a regular epidemic of vagueness among the normally sharp-witted set. For instance-there was the lady landowner who while neatly filing away business papers in preparation for the year's end, found several sizeable checks tucked away in envelopes. It rather reassured her about the feasibility of raising livestock. Up till then, she had been busy raising and selling without noticing she had not banked any profit.

On January 1st, the Indiana Condensed Milk company at Flora definitely discontinued buying sweet cream and started in buying milk altogether. They have been working towards this for some time but just this week quit buying the cream.

An ordinance was passed by the Flora town board at their last meeting to charge all peddlers, hawkers, and other itinerant vendors of goods, merchandise and wares, a fee of $10 a day. This will practically or surpluses raised by farmers in the county can be sold within the city limits without a license.

The Flora poultry show, which was held in this city this week, was a grand success. There were 350 birds in the show ring and as we go to press the management says that from all indications the show will be successful financially. While attendance has not been what it should be (as the chicken is the greatest money-maker for the farmer and they should take greater pride in them), the management feels fairly well satisfied.
