July 4 - Security Federal Savings Bank will put in a new banking facility in Delphi…After a ten-year partnership with the Delphi School Corporation, Area IV Head Start relocated to Carroll Elementary… Margaret Lach-Stone of Camden, a teacher at Springmill Elementary School, Washington Twp., Indianapolis was one of 30 teachers to be selected for special training at the Math Academy… Delphi Community, Carroll Consolidated, Rossville Consolidated, and Twin Lakes school corporations are offering full-day kindergarten in an announcement by the State…A children's bedroom is restored in the Reed Case House at Canal Park in Delphi… Indiana's minimum wage is set to increase from $5.15 - $5.85 per hour… Carroll County Commissioners agree to file suit for jurisdiction from the Twin Lakes Regional Sewer District.
July 11 - The Delphi Independence Day Parade selected "best animal group" as Nickel, a miniature horse pulling a cart, the award for "best float" was given to VFW post 9383 and Auxiliary and "best walking group" went to Carroll and Garrett DeYoung and their "bicycle built for two."…Sam Zook is re-elected as president of the Carroll school board…Delphi's 12 and Under Major All-star Team won the county tournament held at Paul Goyer Field in Delphi… Three state troopers have been assigned to White and Carroll counties. They are Kyle Herron of Fort Wayne, Holly Falk of Wells, and A.J. Smith of Delphi…Kampen Lodge, the newest facility at Camp Tecumseh, was dedicated in a special ceremony July 5.

July 18 - Desiray Simmons is crowned Miss Carroll County…The sixth stop on the WPSA PowerSports ATV Tour is the AMSOIL Wildcat Creek Open Championship this weekend at Wildcat Creek MX near Rossville…Lacey R. Stoner Berger, formally of Delphi, was named the Power of One Teacher of the Year in Grand Rapids, Mich.…Delphi baseball's Junior division (10-year-olds-&-under) won Semi-State round of the 39th annual Town & Country Youth Baseball State Tournament…Dale R. Seward, a Carroll County private investigator, opened an office on the courthouse square in Delphi...Emma Briggs was crowned as Carroll County's Little Miss and Austin Smith as Little Mister…The town of Camden will celebrate its 175th Anniversary this weekend…Carroll County's first 4-H Fair queen (crowned in 1958), Jane Williams Kearns, was honored at the county's 50th queen contest held Saturday evening.

July 25 - The deaths of numerous shovelnose sturgeon in the Wabash River is researched by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources…Burlington adds a Progressive party into the mix of Republican and Democratic politics…Delphi Senior leaguers claim the state Town & Country baseball title…Local Eel River Indian Tribe began a canoe-a-thon titled "Sinipiongi,"…Delphi Preservation Society purchased the remaining third of the Assion-Ruffing City Hall building in an effort to proceed with restoration of the Opera House…Delphi City Park accommodated a growing trend among area youth by constructing a skateboarding park at the Riley Park annex…The Carroll County 4-H fair netted over $64,000 in premiums at the annual livestock auction.

Aug. 1 - Carroll County's sixth annual Relay for Life raised over $31,878 for the American Cancer Society…Carroll County Chamber of Commerce hosts U.S. Congressman Joe Donnelly, State Senator Brandt Hershman and State Representative Rich McClain at an open forum at the Wabash & Erie Canal Center in Delphi…Saturday's scrap tire collection netted four and a half semi loads full…Florence Thomas Bell will celebrate her 100th birthday on Aug. 12…Dr. Lawrence Stauffer will head the state fair vet team for the 38th year…Canal Association volunteered to resemble parts of the 102-year-old Stearns truss bridge.

Aug. 8 - The county clerk sacrifices staff position to aid county financial situation…Carroll County YMCA initiates a fund raising campaign to boost membership and sustain operations…Carroll County residents celebrate the 152nd year of Old Settlers…Carroll County Jail renovated its façade, fence, lights and landscaping… DCMS health and education teacher, Theresa Traver, initiates a new triathlon tradition to encourage youth wellness…County Republican Women honored Tammy Dyer of Burlington as a 2007 Honoree at the Tribute to Women dinner in Indianapolis.
Aug. 15 - Carroll School Corporation will install new scoreboards and construct a new concession stand…Carroll Agricultural educator Steve Keown received a certificate from the National Association of Agriculture Educators, to recognize his 20 years of Ag education…Hoosiers were alerted of massive recall of Chinesemade toys...Delphi Preservation Society hosted a fashion show of yesteryear clothing in the Carroll County Courthouse during Old Settlers.

Aug. 22 - Carroll County highway and sheriff's departments, and commissioners worked together to repaint the graffiti covered Bicycle Bridge…Miss Carroll County Desiray Simmons was chosen third runner-up in the Indiana State Fair Queen Contest…The 24th annual Memorial Car and Bike Show was held at Rossville's Summer's End Festival…Carroll FFA attended the State FFA Convention at Purdue University and was named one of the top ten chapters in Indiana…INDOT has temporarily closed SR 75 to repaint the Wildcat Bridge…Former Carroll County resident, Dr. Edward L. Langston, has been named chair of the board of trustees of the American Medical Association.
Aug. 29 - Indiana Department of Environmental Management forecasted that the amount of ozone in the county is expected to exceed healthy levels…Carroll County planned to set the 2008 budget with a nearly $2.5 million difference between income and spending in 2006 and without knowing the financial status in 2007…One hundred and forty-eight 4-H'ers from Carroll County participated in the 2007 State Fair…Paul Manning of Bringhurst won a third place medal in the Men's 5-Trick Skiing event at the U.S. National Water Ski Championship…Carroll County residents participated in a motorcycle ride and helped raise $11,581 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association…Delphi Oracles proved they were good enough to keep the skillet for a third year, defeating the Carroll Cougars 24-0 in the annual Bacon Bowl rivalry.
Sept. 5 - Carroll County burglars shifted focus of breaking into homes at night to driving in mid-day to secluded and unoccupied homes to burglarize…Camden Community Preservation Society received a $3,000 grant from REMC's Operation Round-Up to go toward stone columns and iron fencing at the cemetery entrance… Carroll High School head cross-country and tennis coach, Matthew Benner published "Tales of the 5K," a story about the challenges of a senior captain on the cross-country team…Carroll County Board of Realtors recently donated two dozen smoke detect ors to the Jackson Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept.
Sept. 12 - Delphi Community School Corp. Superintendent Ralph Walker will retire for 90 days and then be re-employed by the corporation so that he can collect retirement pay while continuing to work…Flora Kiwanis held a 'Touch the Fleet' day, bringing race cars, motorcycles, fire trucks, and an Army ambulance to the streets of Flora… 'Sassy's," salon located in Delphi held a grand re-opening for the newly-expanded facility, now triple its size…Carroll soccer opened its season on a new field…An open house will be held for the new Water Tower Place senior housing project in Delphi.
Sept. 19 - Flora Kiwanis Club has disbanded but plans to continue events through the Flora Community Club…Students of Delphi Middle School formed a "living flag" to celebrate the 193rd anniversary of the attack on Ft. McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland… Leaf pickup will begin soon in Burlington…Delphi Preservation Society was awarded Efroymson Fund grant of $7,500 for façade restoration of the Assion-Ruffing City Hall building…Catlin Hinkle was crowned Burlington Fall Festival Queen…Carroll High School has a marching band again.
Sept. 26 - Indiana Department of Transportation Commissioner Karl Browning spoke to area residents about the Hoosier Heartland Industrial Corridor updates involving the future highway that could begin construction in 2007...Indiana Department of Transportation placed temporary lights on east and westbound State Road 18…Delphi Public Library celebrates National Banned Books Week with library programs and book fairs…The future of the county's animal control service is in question…A brainstorming meeting has been set.
Oct. 3 - Carroll County Council unanimously adopted a budget totaling $6,812,217…Steve Barnard was granted permission by Carroll County Board of Zoning Appeals to obtain property for the construction of a new gas station at the northeast corner of the intersection of SR29 and SR22…Delphi City Council agreed in concept that a comprehensive medical center would be beneficial, but turned down the proposed location, at the intersection of Prince William Rd. and Summit St…Town of Flora Employees earned a safety award for 2006 from the Indiana Public Employers' Plan…A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Twin Lakes Regional Sewer District Rattlesnake Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant… A four-place helicopter from Goshen Flight Service was a premier attraction at the Fall Foliage Flights at the Delphi Airport.
Oct. 10 - "Banner day" brought approximately 45 volunteers to work on the Stearns truss bridge deck…Flora held its annual Moonlight Madness event Saturday night… Carroll boys' and girls' cross country teams won the Hoosier Heartland Conference Championship… Delphi Community Middle School runners participated in a community work-service day at Riley Park…Congressman Joe Donnelly presented Delphi Community High School with an American flag which previously flew over the Washington D.C.
Oct. 17 - Carroll County Antique Tractor Club Plow Day was held in a 65-acre field at the farm of Meredith Ayres, south of Flora…Delphi Forestry Commission was one of seven honorees for significant contributions to urban forestry in Indiana in 2007…Thomas Piotrowski of Flora won second place in the "Indiana State Dirt Championship Race"…Flora's 8-and-under baseball team went undefeated in the Russiaville Fall Baseball League games…Twenty-one of 170 hogs being transported to Indiana Packers Corp in Delphi died after the semi-tractor trailer was involved in a traffic accident…DCSC taxpayers can provide input on facility needs…History-related groups will meet to discuss common issues, goals.
Oct. 24 - Camden designated the community building as the official town emergency shelter…The 2007 Community Enhancement Awards were presented to representatives of the Sportsman Inn, Independent Order of Odd Fellows #28, Jackson-Lee- Pearson Inc., and The Dinner Bell for greatly improving the visual
Nov. 7 - Democrat Randy Strasser defeated incumbent Republican Lee Hoard for Mayor of the City of Delphi… Democrats won three of four seats in Camden and the Progressive party swept Burlington…Vreba-Hoff Dairy Development LLC is helping Koen and Els Ally of Belgium start a large-scale dairy in northeast Carroll County… DCHS seniors Kyle Bender and Erika Hawn enjoyed free tickets to an Indianapolis Colts football game for being named top 20 finalists in the Wendy's High School Heisman program… Carroll County Soccer U14 Blaze won the Fusion Fall Festival championship in Indianapolis…Carroll FFA's dairy team placed third in he nation at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.
Nov. 14 - The Stearns truss bridge in Delphi was dedicated in grand style, marking two years of restoration efforts… Delphi was awarded $550,392 to help construct a replica canal boat and related support structures to preserve and interpret the historic Wabash and Erie Canal… Delphi FFA members Wes Berkshire and Kyle Schwatzkopf were presented American FFA degrees at the national convention…Dr. Alvan and Arlene Eller are marshals of the Flora Christmas Parade.
Nov. 21 - County leaders, including commissioners, council members, auditor and department heads, met to discuss how to cope with the county's money crisis at an evening meeting Nov. 14…Extension Homemakers sponsored a sewing day where attendees made 250 Christmas bags for the Toy Store…The Burlington Police Department and Carroll County Sheriff's office found two suspects responsible for the eight burglaries which occurred in the Burlington area…Fire destroyed Dave Bordner's mechanic shop…Delphi Preservation Society held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the completion of the Assion
Ruffing City Hall façade restoration project.
Nov. 28 - Carroll School Board began the process of borrowing a million dollars for improvements to Carroll Jr.- Sr. High School…Forty-year city employee Larry "Bud" Cripe was awarded a plaque for his years of service to the city. A section of Hamilton Street was dedicated in his honor as "Bud Lane"…The Camden Auto Company vintage garage is being revitalized by Gary and Kelly Robey…Delphi Lions Club selected parade founder Donna Sholty as grand marshal for the Delphi Christmas Parade…The Bill and Pat Calhoun family of Flora was honored as one of three recipients of the Distinguished Family Award presented by Family Services Inc.
Dec. 5 - Commissioners have negotiated a lease agreement with the Carroll County Historical Society… Mary Zinn is Flora Lions Club's Pete Award winner…Area Plan Commission's Zoning Administrator Dale Huffer has announced plans to resign from that position as of March 1…Carroll County Sheriff's department worked closely with Indiana State Police to sniff out a 21-pound package of marijuana sent to a Delphi residence.
Dec. 12 - Visitors at Canal Park were treated to Christmas pony-cart rides…Delphi boys' swim team won the Clinton Central Invitational…Carroll eighth graders built a Rube Goldberg device as a class technology exercise…Delphi police chief announced that 83 percent of the recent day-time residential burglaries in Delphi have been solved.
Dec. 19 - Carroll, Delphi, and Rossville high schools were named "best buy" schools by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce for providing excelled academic opportunity at a good value for Hoosier tax dollars…Stone House Restaurant and Bakery owner Lisa Delaney was published in "Dining Secrets of Indiana," a guide to unique restaurants across Indiana…Carroll County has received its share of monies for Homestead Credit Rebates to be distributed to Carroll County Homestead property owners…White and Carroll REMCS have announced plans to merge…The Santa House in Flora received a fresh new look thanks to the Flora Boy Scouts…Carroll School Board has hired a school nurse, Jennifer Wellbaum, and a school nurse supervisor, Melinda Allbaugh.
Dec. 26 - Carroll School Board approved the establishment of a Rainy Day Fund…Carroll FFA held "Christmas with the animals'… Delphi resident Deb Mears received a "maid for a year" thanks to a Weiman Home Care Products contest…YMCA Camp Tecumseh completed an all-time record year, serving 35,000 campers…Carroll County sewer district representative Wayne Garrison was appointed Twin Lakes Regional Sewer District president for 2008…Holiday Giftway winners in Delphi were Becky Jacobs, Roseann Babb and Mary Stankard…Flora's Shop Flora First winners were Carla Richardson, Nancy Biederwolf and Dave Edwards.
