Flora Police and Carroll county Sheriff's departments are investigating a break in and robbery at Jackson-Lee- Pearson John Deere in Flora which occurred sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning. Taken in the robbery were snowblowers, space heaters, a toy pedal tractor and other miscellaneous items, according to Flora Police Chief Larry Tull. Stolen merchandise was estimated at $7,000 to $10,000.
The robbery was reported Saturday after the discovery of the southeast door of the business being broken out. Police dusted for fingerprints and the investigation continues.

Georganna Julius has announced the sale of Julius Clothing Store in Flora to Robert and Ann Brown of Bringhurst.
Robert Julius, who died in November 1982, opened the Flora store in June 1941. His father had been a clothier in Delphi for many years,
The store's name will be changed to "The Brown Suit."
Carroll County recorded its coldest Christmas in history when temperatures dipped Saturday and Sunday to a low of - 20 degrees, with wind chills from -60 to -84 degrees. Blowing snow caused drifting on north and south roads and many Christmas gatherings had to be cancelled or postponed.

Carroll county is one of only 16 counties in the state to reduce its governmental expenditures and seek less property taxes in 1959 than were collected in 1958.

Mrs. J.E. Glick of Mulberry a few days ago emptied a can of fermented fruit out in the yard where her chickens roamed. They ate it and half an hour later when she chanced to go out into the yard again the chickens were falling over each other, turning somersaults, staggering around the yard and acting in a queer manner generally. Some were lying on the ground as though dead. She noticed that the chickens had eaten the fruit and this explained their queer actions. All were drunk.
