Delphi swim teams win Clinton Central Invitational

Delphi's girls swim team won the Clinton Central Invitational on Saturday. The girls were led by double winners Monica Hutsell in the 200 and 500 freestyle events and Grace Currie in the 50 freestyle. Currie was a member of the winning 200 free relay team of Jordan Hudelson, Emily Layman and Erika Matricia.

The boys who won the invitational for the third straight year. They were led by Andrew Burton with four first place finishes - 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Kyle Price won the 100 backstroke, while Jared Kelley won the 100 freestyle. Both Kelly and Price were members of the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams. Jeremy Sterrett was a double winner in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays and Brent Kremer won the 200 freestyle. The winning 200 freestyle relay team broke the school record set last year.

The Oracle men's swim team won the Clinton Central Invitational on Saturday. Photo provided The girls beat Tipton 96-84 and Western 95-91. The girls won only five events in the two wins. Against Tipton, Haley Richardson won diving while the 400 freestyle relay team of Hutsell, Annie Mose, Taylor Thompson and Matricia picked up the other first. First places against Western went to Brianna Walters, 100 butterfly; An. Mose, 100 backstroke; and the 200 freestyle relay team of Hudelson, Currie, Hutsell and Matricia.

The boys beat undermanned Tipton 112-43 but lost to Western 100-86. Against Tipton Burton broke his 50 freestyle record with his lead off leg of the 200 freestyle relay. Double winners were Kremer, 200 and 500 freestyle; Brandon Wilson, 200 IM and 100 breaststroke; and Sterrett, 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Other winners were Alex Price, 100 freestyle; Andy Flora, diving; and Zack Thomas, 100 backstroke. Other members of the winning 200 free relay team were Austin Goodman and Clint McLeland. Kyle Price and Kyle Miller were members of the winning 400 free relay team.

Against Western, the winning 200 medley relay team of Price, McLeland, Burton and Sterrett took almost 2 seconds off the old school record, Burton (200 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 medley relay) and Price (200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 medley relay) were triple winners and Kremer won the 500 freestyle.
