The Lady Oracles defeated Clinton Prairie 48-36 Saturday after having lost to Twin Lakes 47-34 earlier in the week.

Delphi held a 3-2 lead early in the game against Twin Lakes. The Indians took the lead during an eight-point run and never trailed again. Falling behind early is becoming a familiar pattern for the Oracles this season. After one period they were down 18-9.

Whitney Arion hit a three to open the second, but a three by TL's Katie Reiff pushed the margin back up to nine. Good defense caused three consecutive turnovers by TL that led to a six-point Oracle run by Arion, Jordayn Jargstorf and Chanler Norman. Delphi couldn't sustain the momentum though as the Indians reeled off eight points to regain a double digit lead. Danni Burge hit a basket at the buzzer to make the score 31-24 at the half.

Delphi came out of the locker room with some determination. Jargstorf and Kari Lake each scored and the Oracles were within a long basket at 31-28. Once again the Indians prevented the Oracles from coming all the way back when they went up by eight at 36-28. TL headed into the final period leading 39-33

TL opened the fourth quarter with three turnovers, but the Oracles couldn't take advantage, missing easy shots and committing unforced er- rors. That was the last chance for Delphi's ladies to catch the Indians who startd to hit their shots and pulled away for the 13-point victory.

Arion and Jargstorf led the Oracles in scoring with nine and eight points, respectively. Audrey Matteson and Emileah Manahan led the Indians with 16 and 13 points.

The JV contest was won by the Indians 35-26.

The Oracles traveled to Jefferson for their second game of the week, a match up with the Clinton Prairie Lady Bulldogs. An early offensive rebound by the Oracles led to a Kari Lake score followed by a free throw by Hannah Strasser. An Arion basket gave the Oracles an early 5-0 lead. For once the Oracles jumped out to the quick lead. Strasser, in her first start of the year, scored again. After a free throw by Jargstorf, Arion hit a three to put the Oracles up by four at 11-7. A throw it up and pray, bank shot, three pointer at the buzzer by Abby Myers pulled the Bulldogs to within one at 11-10 entering the second quarter.

Delphi held the Bulldogs scoreless for over six minutes, but during that time the Bulldogs were playing some good defense of their own. The Oracles could only score five points. When CP finally hit a basket the score stood at 16- 12. Each team could only score one free throw each to give the Oracles a 17-13 advantage at half-time.

Strasser started the third with a basket on Delphi's first possession. Trailing 20-13, the Bulldogs got a traditional three-point play followed in quick succession by a pair of two point buckets to tie the score at 20-20. The teams traded scores the rest of the period until the Bulldogs' Raelyn Rawlings hit a free throw with 0.6 seconds left. Delphi was behind for the first time in the game, 26-25.

Strasser again opened scoring by hitting one of a pair of free throws to tie the game at 26.

Jargstorf hit a bucket a short time later. With the score tied at 28 Danni Burge gave the Oracles the lead for good by scoring five points in a 30 second span. Clinton Prairie took a timeout with 3:37 left in the game, but it was the Oracles who used the timeout to their advantage by extending a 38- 33 lead to a 43-33 lead in the next two minutes. With the Bulldogs fouling to get possession of the ball the Oracles hit five of six free throws down the stretch to insure the Oracles' third win against four losses for the season.

Trailing 5-3 after one period the Oracle JV opened the second quarter with a 9-0 run on their way to a 16-9 halftime lead. After allowing two buckets in the first 45 seconds of the second half the Oracles shut out the Bulldogs to pull away and lead going into the final period at 36-13 on their way to a 38-25 victory.
