By this time in December the gazebo at the county courthouse in Delphi is festively decorated for the season. It greets courthouse visitors and traffic on Franklin and Washington streets with holiday cheer to welcome them to the downtown area.

However, that event did not happen this year. Given the decision of the City of Delphi to purchase decorations rather than rent them and no decorations on the gazebo, the business district around the courthouse area has been dressed with less this year.

Delphi Chamber of Commerce president Krista Watson said the gazebo is owned by the chamber. She said each year members take the time to make the gazebo something for which the community can be proud.

Watson said each year some decorations are lost after the holidays when they are stored by various volunteers. This year there were not enough decorations to do the job needed to help ring in the Christmas season, so the gazebo has not been decorated.

Watson said the chamber would still like to do the decorating, but donations are needed to accomplish the task. She said any business, organization or person can make a donation by calling the chamber at (765) 564-3034. Watson said if anyone knows where any of the decorations previously used for the project are located, that information would be appreciated.
