Burlington Community Library will present its second annual Christmas Kid's Night Out on Dec. 19, from 6-10 p.m.

This event is open to all children preschool (pottytrained) and older. There will be food, crafts, Christmas stories, movies and tons of fun. Special guest will be Santa!

A $3 donation is appreciated, but not required. All donations go directly for purchasing food for an area food bank.

This is a great time for parents to finish last minute shopping or to have the night off.

Pre-registration is appreciated by calling 765-566- 3166 and leaving a message stating ages and names of children who will be attending. There are 25 openings available.

The library has two new books perfect for planning and preparing special holiday meals. Rachel Ray's Big Orange Book and Martha Stewart's Cooking School are now available for check out.

Get into the holiday spirit by coming to the Hometown Holiday Open House through this Saturday, Dec. 13, on the main floor of the library. Enjoy hot beverages of coffee, hot chocolate and a special recipe spiced tea. Refreshments will also be available.

The open house is a holiday gift to the community from the library. The Hometown Holiday Open House is during normal library operating hours.

While enjoying the open house patrons are invited to visit the second grade art enrichment class exhibit in the Richter Program Room. Art projects include cityscapes painted with watercolors, and giraffes in their natural habitats drawn with pastels.

There are also collages done in the style of Henri Matisse. The collages are wreaths featuring complementary colors. Carroll Elementary School art enrichment is taught by Grace Woodruff.

The theme for the next storytime will be "Christmas." It's time to deck the halls for the holidays! Christmas trees, wreaths, cookies, and holly. Hear festive stories that will put any scrooge into the holiday spirit! Classic stories, fun and cheer will be on hand to celebrate with your preschooler. Preschool storytime is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
