Summe, Popejoy help Sheridan to runner-up title

Carlton Summe and Jacob Popejoy, grandsons of area residents, are members of the Class A state finals runner-up Sheridan Blackhawks team. Sheridan was state champion the previous three years.

The Blackhawks dominated their opponents in every game except their last regular season game when they lost to West Lafayette. On their way to the state finals they defeated Tri-Central, Central Catholic and Clinton Central in the sectional, Pioneer in the regional, and Southern Wells in the semi-state. Sheridan lost to Cardinal Ritter in the title game 34-27.

Summe, a running back/linebacker, is the son of Mike and Joni Summe of Sheridan and the grandson of George and Mary Summe of Burlington and Don and Jane Ann Craft of Flora.

Popejoy, a wide receiver/defensive back, is the son of Nick and Robin Popejoy of Sheridan and the grandson of Jerry and Lorraine Popejoy of Flora.
