Carroll used a 20-4 opening period burst to quickly subdue the visiting Lady Oracles. The Cougars went on to win the game 57-30. Turnovers and poor shooting doomed Delphi from the very beginning and plagued them throughout the entire game. Carroll ended the game with 11 steals and Delphi with 23 turnovers. The Lady Oracles could only muster 26% field goal shooting for the game.

Carroll started the game with a 2-point basket by sophomore Quinci Eller, followed by a 3 from sophomore Jess Yoder. A basket by Delphi's Whitney Arion was followed by a 3-pointer from Carroll's Alisha Hedrick and the Lady Cougars were up 8- 2. Delphi turned the ball over repeatedly and Carroll's lead grew to 16-4 on a made 3 by Eller with 1:00 remaining. The quarter ended with the Lady Cougars up 20-4.

The second quarter was slower paced by both teams as defense became the premium for the quarter. Turnovers plagued both teams. Carroll was able to extend its lead going into the half 28-11.

The third quarter saw the Lady Cougar press work its magic as they controlled the opening 2 minutes and expanded their lead to 36-11 with 5:43 left and Delphi using a full timeout. The timeout did not help the Lady Oracles as the Lady Cougars finished the quarter leading 43-17.

The fourth quarter saw the Carroll pressure relax a bit and Delphi was able to score a little easier. Carroll Coach Mike McCroskey used his entire bench during the fourth period. The reserves gained some valuable playing time during the last 3 minutes of the game. Delphi used its reserves during this same period and they were able to put the ball in the basket cutting into Carroll's lead. Carroll freshman Kate Hickner got into the scoring action with a 3 pointer and a lay-up late in the game.

The Lady Cougars were led by Eller with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. She was followed by 12 rebounds and 4 points from Abby Reinke and 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals from Yoder. Overall it was a balanced attack from the Lady Cougars. Hedrick and fellow senior Sarah Griffin rounded out the Cougar scoring with 5 and 2 points, respectively. Delphi was led by 9 points from sophomore Whitney Arion.

Carroll (3-2) continued its season with a home game against Clinton Prairie on Tuesday (too late for press time), followed by an away game at North White on Thursday. The game will begin with the JV tip-off at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity at 7:30 p.m.
