The American Red Cross need people to donate blood during the winter months.

Anyone donating at a blood drive or donor center between Dec. 1 and Jan. 31 is eligible to enter the grand prize drawing of a $1,000 American Airlines gift card and a $1,000 Marriott Hotels gift card for a winter trip of choice.

Every two seconds someone in America needs blood according to a Red Cross press release. There was only a 17-hour blood supply of type O-negative left in the Indian Ohio region and only a two-day supply of A and Bnegative type blood as of Nov. 18.

Donors must be 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in general good health. Call (800) 448- 3543 to schedule an appointment.
