Carroll board hires architect for AC project
Carroll School Board has hired Barton-Coe-Vilamaa as the architect-engineer for its 2009 air conditioning/piping project.
The decision was made at a regular meeting Monday night. Estimated cost of the project, including architect fees, is $1,967,000.
The board authorized superintendent John Sayers to obtain a temporary loan if the corporation does not receive its tax draw before the end of the year. Sayers said the corporation has to pay back an $800,000 loan before the end of December, and without the tax draw, the general fund will not have enough money for operating and loan repayment.
A school calendar for 2009- 20010 was approved. Sayers said the first day for students will be on Thursday, Aug. 13, and the last day will be on Thursday, May 20. Graduation will be May 29.
The corporation will advertise for bids for two new school buses, as part of its 10-year plan for bus replacement.
Alishia Humbarger resigned as junior high cheerleading coach, and Christina Miller was hired for the position.
The Cougarettes Dance Team will have a dance clinic Jan. 24. The team will teach dance routines to elementary and junior high students, and they will perform that night at the basketball game.
Eight elementary teachers will attend a Textbook Caravan Jan. 21 in West Lafayette to see samples of social studies textbooks from various companies.
