Comet staff report

Delphi Parade marshals Dick and Karen Bradshaw will be on duty Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. to lead the Delphi Lions Club 2008 parade through the streets of Delphi. Parade entrants should begin to form a line at 11:30 a.m. at the Monroe St. Gymnasium. Judging will begin at 12:30 p.m. All who wish to be considered for an award must be in line at that time.

The parade route remains the same from previous years. From the Monroe St. gym, the procession will go west and turn left onto Market St. It will travel one block and make another left onto Franklin St. The parade viewing stand will be in front of Fielding's Clock Shop on Franklin St. The parade will move east on Franklin St. to High St. and make a left, go one block and finish at the departure point, the Monroe St. gym.

Other Saturday activities:

• Tri Kappa will host a "Small Shoppers' Spending Spree" in the courthouse from 10 a.m. to noon. Children in Kindergarten through fifth-grade are eligible to shop for an adult. Santa will be available for consultation.

• Delphi Community Elementary School Student Council will sell hot chocolate on the courthouse lawn from 10 a.m. to noon.

• "Festival of Trees" will be on display in the courthouse rotunda. The winning tree will be announced during the parade.

• The "Cancer Tree" lighting in the rotunda will be at noon.

• The War Monument lights will be illuminated to bring in the season at dusk.

• Delphi Chamber of Commerce will announce the winners of Discover Delphi Christmas Holiday Gift Give-a-way. Participating businesses will display prize gift baskets in their store fronts. Customers are encouraged to visit the stores until Dec. 6 to complete a nomination form for their choice of recipients who otherwise would not have the opportunity to purchase the gifts. Persons who have done something extraordinary in the past year may also be nominated for a basket.

• The chamber will award a giant stocking to a child, a $100 gift certificate to an adult and a free chamber membership to a local business.

Be it a parade, a glorious show of decorated trees, some shopping or a hot cup of chocolate, there is something for everyone in Delphi this Saturday.
