Hershman launches online 'virtual office'

State Sen. Brandt Hershman (R-Wheatfield) has launched a new online "virtual office," bringing Indiana state government - its elected officials and agencies - as close as a work, home or school computer.

"That's especially important as we begin the 2009 legislative session," Hershman said. "I will be working hard to balance the state budget, protect education funding, permanently cap property taxes and continue job creation across our state. As always, constituent input will be both valuable and appreciated."

Hershman encourages district residents to log onto www.in.gov/senator.hershman to access current legislation, view live hearings, provide immediate input and receive updates.

Sen. Hershman represents Senate District 7, which includes Carroll, Clinton, Howard Jasper, Tippecanoe and White counties.

Hershman to chair Tax & Fiscal Policy committee

State Senator Brandt Hershman (R-Wheatfield) has been appointed to chair the Senate Committee on Tax and Fiscal Policy which reviews state tax policy relating to sales taxes, income taxes, property taxes and other revenue raising measures.

Hershman was also selected to serve on Appropriations and Energy and Environmental Affairs. The Appropriations Committee crafts the budget bill and other legislation allocating state funds to numerous government agencies, departments and organizations on a bi-annual basis.
