For the first time since the 1989-90 season Carroll and Delphi boys basketball teams will play twice in the regular season. The two matched up last Wednesday night on Varsity Night at Carroll and will face each other again on Feb. 6 at Delphi. More ... Carroll used a 20-4 opening period burst to quickly subdue the visiting Lady Oracles. The Cougars went on to win the game 57-30. Turnovers and poor shooting doomed Delphi from the very beginning and plagued them throughout the entire game. Carroll ended the game with 11 steals and Delphi with 23 turnovers. More ... Coming off a hard-fought battle at Carroll Wednesday night, head coach Brian Tonsoni's third Delphi boys' basketball team knew that they were in for another struggle in the 2008-09 season home opener against Taylor Saturday night, but no-one could have anticipated the shooting display that the Titans would bring with them en route to a 79-53 victory over the host team. More ... The Lady Oracles traveled to Rensselaer for a Saturday afternoon game and came home with a 54-37 loss that dropped their season record to two wins and three losses. The Oracles were outrebounded by 25 (55-30), many at the offensive end. More ... The Delphi varsity, junior varsity and freshman volleyball teams held their Awards Banquet on Nov. 16. The varsity and JV teams won the White County Tournaments this year and the varsity team was Sectional runner-up, losing to Clinton Central 22- 25,22-25,24-26. More ... Carlton Summe and Jacob Popejoy, grandsons of area residents, are members of the Class A state finals runner-up Sheridan Blackhawks team. Sheridan was state champion the previous three years. The Blackhawks dominated their opponents in every game except their last regular season game when they lost to West Lafayette. More ... Oracle swimmers split meets The Lady Oracles swim team lost to Lewis Cass 104-79. And then defeated Maconaquah 98-82. Against Cass, Haley Richardson won diving with a score of 154.40. Also winning was the 200 freestyle relay team of Grace Currie, Jordan Hudelson, Emily Layman and Erika Matricia. More ...
