A four-year long fundraising effort aimed at preserving the covered bridge at Adams Mill yielded an impressive $85,404.31 in private funds being deposited in county coffers last week.

The historic, but dilapidated, all wooden bridge has been the subject of several attempted preservation efforts. As the grant funding process dragged out over the past four years, engineers speculated as to whether the structure would be standing when federal funds were finally released.

Donations ranging from pennies, to thousands of dollars, combined with fundraising dollars from a host of activities were held to finance the volunteer effort.

Don Craft and Greg Michael, auctioneers, have purchased an auction truck, equipped with a commercial public address system.

The truck enables the auctioneers to see the bidders better, and the bidders can see and hear the auctioneers better. There are only a few such trucks in the state, according to Craft and Michael, both of Flora. They have been in the business six years and handle all kinds of auctions. They said the truck is especially helpful in farm sales.

A month-long investigation of a burglary and an arson to a residence belonging to Larry Parker, Rt. 1, Rossville, concluded with the arrest of the minister of the Delphi Pentecostal Church.

The Delphi Chamber of Commerce and co-operating merchants have developed an unusual program to attract Christmas shoppers and friends to Delphi. Besides the traditional visit of Santa Claus with treats for the kiddies, there will be a number of portable TV sets given to the adults. Stores will be especially attractive with gift suggestions and the Christmas spirit will be reflected in beautiful decorations in the town.

725 men have applied for positions under the Civil works program in Carroll county. The total force of 310 allotted to Carroll county will be at work this week, according to Wade Farr, disbursing agent.

The payroll was made Saturday by the various road superintendent of the county except those in Deer Creek township who received their money at the court house.

Charles Meade, of Carrollton township, whose athletic aspirations at Purdue have been handicapped by injuries, and Doxie Moore of Delphi are again after berths on Coach Ward (Piggy) Lambert's Boilermaker varsity.

The mad dog scare is still raging in Delphi and every little while comes in a report of some dog having been infected with the rabies and killed. Saturday night a dog made things rather lively at Pittsburg. Nearly all the male residents of the town who were able to get out and who learned of a chase having been given John Hayden, turned out with lanterns in search of the dog.

Several mad dogs have been reported from the Lime Kiln district and some children are said to have been bitten. It is also said that Jesse Bowdle's dog became cross some time ago and after frightening the women nearly to death, was finally killed to avoid any possible danger.
