Flora parade winners announced
The theme of Flora's Christmas Parade on Saturday was "Season of Giving," and items were collected for the Food Pantry.
Parade photos Flora's Christmas parade featured 50 units. Those pictured, top to bottom, are: Santa Claus on the Interurban Trolley, Wabash Valley Draft Horse Club, Bill and Judy Schock's 1926 Model T Ford fire truck followed by the Murat Flying Fezzes, and the Carroll Cougars Marching Band, which was named Best Walking Group. Comet photos by Jennifer Archibald "A big thank you goes to Trent Stephan of Stephan's IGA for donating three heaping grocery carts of items," said Theresa Brown of the Flora Community Club, sponsor of the parade. Additional non-perishable food was contributed by parade participants and others in the community.
There were 50 units in the parade.
Flora Community Club awarded trophies to the following winners:
Best Motorized - Truck honoring service personnel, with Brady Sorrells on board.
Best Float - Daisy Girl Scout Troop 1156.
Best Depiction of Theme - Circle W horse farm. It was representative of "giving" because Donna and George Willis gave Judy Ayres and granddaughter, Emily Harsh, an opportunity to ride horseback in a parade with the Willis family group.
Best Walking Group - Carroll Cougars Marching Band.
Most Entertaining - Flora Lions Club with a live lion mascot.
Parade marshal was Georganna Julius, announcer was Bret Rinehart, and judges were Marilyn Frey, Jennifer Dyke, and Stephanie Prather.
