The library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Normal operating hours will resume on Nov. 28.
The library's halls are decked out for the holidays. Browse through your favorite magazine or newspaper while you relax with a nice cup of coffee or hot cocoa in the library's Book Nook Coffee Shop. Candy bars and soda are also available. The Book Nook is open during library operating hours.
Horse lovers will enjoy the new Equestrian Drawings exhibit in the Richter Program Room. The drawings are the work of students who attended a "plein air," outdoor afterschool art enrichment class for junior high grades at Carroll using a real horse model.
Sketches were made from different angles with markers using angles to encourage contour lines. These sketches were followed by more detailed drawings in pencil or charcoal with shading, shadows and highlights. Lisa Eikenberry provided the beautiful live model horse, Cassie. Instructor for the class was Grace Woodruff.
The theme for the next storytime will be Travel. Over the river and through the woods, in planes, trains and automobiles. (Maybe a sled?) Tis the season to visit all our friends and family. Look out for those reindeer! Preschool storytime is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
You can hear great stories 24 hours a day on the library's Dial-a-Story phone line. Currently playing is "Old Man Rabbit's Thanksgiving Dinner." On Friday the new story will be "Why the Evergreen Trees Keep Their Leaves in Winter." Call Dial-a-Story at 967-3814.
