The first grade art enrichment classes from Carroll Elementary School have their works on display in the library. The students mixed colors in the color wheel, and then painted toucan bird pictures with their creations. Leftover paint colors created from this project was used to paint alligator and crocodile sculptures.
Life size self portrait collages were fashioned using a variety of recycled materials including cardboard, crayon, yarn, cassette tape ribbon, wood shavings and nylons. Patrons can see the projects in the Richter Program Room, and the sculptures are in the display cabinet on the main floor of the library. Art enrichment is taught by Grace Woodruff.
We are celebrating Children's Book Week through Saturday. Celebrated since 1919, Children's Book Week encourages children, and the adults who care for them, to spread the joy of reading by spending some time with a book each day. Remember to take your kids to the library and show them that the way to conquer the world is through reading.
The theme for the next storytime will be Thanksgiving. Turkeys and Thanksgiving are here, time for giving thanks for great stories! Preschool storytime is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
