Comet staff report

Area IV Head Start, a federally funded pre-school program, was approved in August to begin a privatepay partnership in Carroll, Clinton and White counties.

Private-pay spots offer communities an opportunity to place children, who are not eligible for Head Start, in the unique pre-school program for a monthly or weekly fee.

Currently there are slots available for Carroll County at Carroll Elementary, Flora, in the morning and afternoon half-day sessions. Enrollment is available for children 3 to 5 on a firstcome, first-served basis.

Private-pay children receive all the educational services of Head Start which include: • Creative classroom

curriculum • Qualified teachers and welltrained

staff • Hot lunch and snack • Field trips for experiential

learning • Parent meetings and mom

and dad's groups • Volunteer opportunities

in the classroom • Developmental, vision,

dental and speech/hearing

screenings.

Area IV Head Start is a program of Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs and is a federally funded pre-school program, primarily serving low-income families. All services are provided without regard to race, age, color, religion, sex, disability, national origin and ancestry.
