Senior Chief Franklin E. Cook retired from the U.S. Navy on June 13 after 26 years of military service.
He is the son of Ralph and Karon Cook of Delphi and a 1983 graduate of Delphi Community High School.
Cook enlisted Aug. 25, 1982, and completed recruit training in Orlando, Fla.
His first tour of duty was to the Mediterranean Sea and the North Atlantic. He later deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.
Cook was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in 1992 and was simultaneously selected for the Landing Craft Air Cushion Loadmaster Craftmaster Program.
He was selected Senior Chief Petty Officer in May 2002 and returned for a final tour of duty in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
He received numerous decorations for achievement, good conduct and other areas of service.
Cook now lives near Warsaw. His two daughters and son all reside in Indiana.
