Jerry D. Reinke grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for residents of Flora Senior Apartments and other seniors last week. The annual cook-out/carry-in was started by his father, Jerry L. Reinke, about 15 years ago. Jerry L. was Flora Apartments manager for 20 years before his son took over in January. The event is something the seniors look forward to all year. The big carry-in meal is served buffet style at the Flora Senior Center. This was to be the year that Jerry L. could sit back and eat, and leave the cooking to his son, but on the day of the cook-out, Jerry L. was in the hospital. They had a "get well" cake in his honor.
