Betty Cottrell of Rossville and her two sisters took their mother on a river barge excursion to celebrate their mother's 75th birthday this month. Traveling on the Ohio and Kanawha rivers, the excursion went from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Charleston, W.Va., and back to Cincinnati. The ladies were surprised to discover that the cruise director was Mike Cobb of Burlington. He is pictured hosting an on-board talent show where he had several hat changes. Pictured with him is "the birthday girl," June Haste of Lafayette. Her daughters surprised her by bringing her on stage, adorning her as a queen and singing "Happy Birthday" to her. Throughout the trip, guests wore lanyards with their names attached. Mrs. Haste and her daughters wore pink cancer awareness lanyards in recognition of her being a 19-year breast cancer survivor. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Photo provided
