Oracle JV drops two
Delphi's JV football team lost a pair of games recently. The first was to Benton Central 14-0 and then to Carroll 44-6.
Against the Bison, the Oracle defense made several stands with their backs in their own end zone. Offensively, the team was led by Matt Brown and Stephan Back, running, and Aaron Back, receiving.
Against Carroll, in the opening series Zach Condon stripped the Carroll quarterback and returned the fumble 65 yards for a score. Brown ran the ball hard but ultimately the Oracles were held scoreless after Condon's return.
They conclude their season 2-5.
Oracle 7th splits matches
The Oracle 7th grade A-team split a pair of volleyball matches. The team is now 8-9.
They hosted Roosevelt last week. The A team put up a tough match but were eventually defeated 21-16, 11-21, 13-15. Leading the Oracles was Olivia Bieghler who had 9 service points, 3 aces and the most assists, Danielle Allen had 6 service points and excellent passing and Emily Hicks contributed 6 service points and 2 ace serves.
The Oracle ladies overcame a first game loss to win the match with Southwestern 12-21, 22-20, 15-10. They passed well, set well and hit well to defeat the visiting Southwestern Wildcats. Leading the team was Bieghler with 13 service points, 4 aces and most assists, Hunter Hart had 8 service points, 1 ace and led in kills. Emma Carpenter had 8 service points, 2 aces and led in passing.
B-team
The B-team also put up a good fight but lost 14-21, 21-16, 3-15 to Roosevelt. They were led by strong serving from Baylee Brown who had 12 service points and 5 aces, Amber Mitchell contributed 6 service points and Mariah Morris added 3 service points.
Delphi came out on top against Southwestern with a 21-14, 6-21, 15-14 victory. Leading the team were Brown with 13 service points and 3 aces; Jackie Hensley with 9 service points and 5 aces; and Ashley Mills with 11 service points and 3 aces.
The Oracle B-team is 2-10.
