Don Pendleton of Cutler and Tami Pendleton of Covington announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily, to William Matthews of Charlotte, N.C. He is the son of Paul and Kim Matthews of Rock Hill, S.C.

The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School and a 2003 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor's degree in building construction management. She is employed by Crescent Resources, LLC, in Charlotte, as a construction manager.

Her fiancé is a graduate of Northwestern High School in Rock Hill and a graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor's degree in construction science. He is employed by R.J. Griffin & Company in Charlotte as a project engineer.

A May 16 wedding is being planned.
