Martha L. Cowell, 83, formerly of Heritage Healthcare in Lafayette, passed away at 6:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

Born Oct. 9, 1925, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of William H. and Gladys Peterson Mocherman. She graduated from Camden High School in 1944. Her marriage was on Dec. 7, 1953, to Thomas Logan Cowell, who preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1987.

Mrs. Cowell had worked at Spiegels in Logansport, Kokomo and Lafayette, Monsanto and Essex Wire in Flora.

She had attended the Bringhurst United Methodist Church.

She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary Eagles in and a member of the Women of the Moose, both in Logansport.

Surviving are a son, Eugene Cowell (wife: Mary) of Camden; a daughter, Fre- Dona Fausett (husband: Herman) of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren; and 19 greatgrandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, David and Donald, a daughter, Corinna, and four brothers.

Services were held Tuesday at Reinke Funeral Home in Flora. Burial was at Burlington Cemetery.
