Roy L. Rainwater, 65, of Flora, died at 9:01 a.m., Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. He had been a patient there one day and diagnosed with lung cancer one month ago.

Born, April 11, 1943, in Maynard, Ark., he was the son of the late Ross and Pauline Summers Rainwater. His marriage was on April 7, 1986, in Jacksonville, Texas, to Pam J. Balser, who survives.

Mr. Rainwater attended high school in Jacksonville. He had worked at the West Lafayette Wal-Mart for ten years in inventory.

He enjoyed fishing and watching rodeos.

Surviving are a daughter, Emily Woodcock (husband: Mark) of Lafayette; two sons, Aron S. Rainwater of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mike Rainwater (wife: Mary Ella) of Kansas; a stepson, Roy Bergdorf of Lafayette; a brother, Kenneth Rainwater (wife: Daisy) of Maylend, Mo., and four grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two brothers.

A memorial service was held Oct. 14 at Pat's Country Barn in Flora.
