Plaque to honor Civil War veteran
      The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Kokomo, have a mission of visiting surrounding counties and discovering who was the last surviving Union soldier in each county. Thomas Crawford, commander, said in Carroll County the honor goes to George W. Beck, who died Feb. 10, 1942, and is buried in Burlington Cemetery.

Correction
      Village Blacksmith was incorrectly identified as the primary contractor on the Wilson Bridge project in last week's commissioners story. According to Carroll County Highway Superintendent Ron Francis, CLR was the primary contractor for the project. Village Blacksmith was a sub-contractor and not responsible for cost overruns on the project.

Camden progressing on wastewater upgrade
      Grant writer Ken Smith presented an update on the wastewater treatment upgrade at last Thursday night's meeting of the Camden Town Council. Smith said that he is working through the final permit. "I am working every single day to get this thing taken care of," Smith said.

Bishop to be recognized for pro bono work
      The Carroll County Bar has named Dick N. Bishop the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for Carroll County. The long-time Flora attorney donated 93.25 hours of services in 2007. Also recognized for donated services are Flora attorneys Miriam Robeson with 53 hours and Cynthia Harmon with 14.2 hours.

Delphi woman to receive national FFA honor
      Tracie Egger of Delphi was recently selected to receive the Honorary American FFA Degree. The award is given to those who advance agricultural education and FFA through outstanding personal commitment.

Simmons is National FFA Officer Candidate
      Desiray Simmons will represent Indiana at the 81st National FFA convention as the state's National Officer Candidate. She was chosen by the Indiana association this past summer after going through many rigorous interviews.
