Oct. 23 Cinema Night features the movie "Young at Heart;" a tribute to the nation's elderly, an ode to the power of the arts and a salute to David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix and other musicians whose songs have found new rhyme and reason thanks to the geriatric rockers. The movie teaches how to age gracefully and happily. Discussion and refreshments follow.

Area teens will be reading for the fun of it as the library celebrates the 11-year anniversary of Teen Read Week, Oct. 12-18. We join hundreds of other libraries, schools and bookstores across the country that are encouraging teens to celebrate this year's theme, "Books with Bite." The theme invites teens to read a wide variety of books, from animals to vampires to cooking just "for the fun of it."
Parents of teens are encouraged to celebrate Teen Read Week at home with these ideas: visit the local public or school library with your teen to attend a program or to check out books; set aside time each night for the family to read; give books or magazine subscriptions to your teen as a gift or reward; share your favorite book with your teen; surf the Internet with your teen to learn about new books or authors; join a book discussion group at the school or public library.
During Teen Read Week the library will roll out the 2008-2009 Wrestle Mania Reading Challenge. The goal of this program is to reach reluctant readers and get more teens reading beyond Teen Read Week by implementing a reading incentive program that provides prizes from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as a reward. Details of the free program are available at the main desk.
The theme for the next storytime will be Teddy Bears. Don't forget to bring your favorite bear with you. Preschool storytime is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
