DCMS runners earn first & second in 3-way meet

Delphi Community Middle School cross country teams completed their final regular meets of the season last Thursday at Logansport against the host Berries and Twin Lakes Indians.

The boys team finished first and had top performances from Ryan Leahy (1st), Erik Carpenter (4th), Peyton Wagner (6th), Braden Kemp (7th) and Adam Marvell (8th). They competed Saturday in the Brooks Indiana State Middle School Cross Country Championships in Carmel.

This boys team has set new individual and course records for the school and has been the most successful cross country team in the history of Delphi Middle School.

The girls team finished second behind the Indians and had top performances from Shelby Fisher (2nd) and Samantha Rich (7th).

Oracle 7th keeps improving

The 7th grade Lady Oracles A team hosted and beat Tecumseh 23-21, 19-21, 15-13. They were led by the strong serving of Olivia Bieghler, who had 19 service points, 4 aces and most assists. Also helping was Emma Carpenter with 15 service points and 2 aces.

At Central Catholic the host team defeated Delphi 13-21, 18-21. Leading the Oracles in defense were Lakin Smith and Hunter Hart. Hart also led in kills.

In the Clinton Central Tourney the Oracles finished the day 1-2. Their first opponent was county rival Carroll, whom they defeated 25-2, 25-14. Delphi then lost to the host Bulldogs 19-25, 18-25. In a hard battle with Sheridan, the Oracles ladies came up short, 16-25, 25-19, 15-12. Leading the Oracles was Emma Carpenter with 48 service points, 15 ace serves and 4 kills, Hart had 10 service points and 9 kills; Faith Maxwell 24 service points, 3 ace serves and 5 kills; and Ashley Mills 6 service points and 2 ace serves.

Monday the Oracles hosted North White, winning 25-18, 25-21. The team has been improving throughout the season. Delphi was led by strong serving from Carpenter who had 18 service points and 5 aces; Hart contributed 8 service points and led in kills; and Bieghler had 8 service points and led in assists.

Next up the Lady Oracles is Roosevelt at home Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.

7th B-team

The 7th A record is now 6-8. Next up is a home game against North White.

The B team lost two matches, first to Tecumseh 16-21, 9- 21 and then to Central Catholic 13-21, 18-21. Against Tecumseh, Jackie Hensley and Mariah Morris had 4 service points each and 1 ace each. Against the Knights the Oracles were led in passing by Kelli Claiborne, in serves by Emily Hicks and in assists by Hensley. Their record is 1-8.

Delphi 8th wins tourney

Delphi 8th grade girls volleyball team won the Clinton Central Junior High Volleyball Tourney on total team points Saturday, and then on Monday defeated North White 25-24, 25-20.

Saturday, the Oracle ladies lost their first game to Carroll, 16-25, 25-17 and 13-15, and then defeated Clinton Central 25-24, 25-18 and Sheridan 25-17, 25-16 to win the tourney.

Against North White, Delphi improved their record to 10 wins against 5 losses for the season. In the first game, Sarah Coghill, had 3 kills and Fallon Rumell had 4 aces, while in the second game, Summer Sutton and Coghill had 2 kills each and Morgan Baxter, who did the most damage, had 9 aces.
