Habitat for Humanity and area veterans to build house

Lafayette Habitat for Humanity and area veteran groups will build a house together in the fall of 2009 to honor veterans of the Greater Lafayette community for their service to this country.

The campaign to raise the revenue and volunteers needed for the Habitat for Humanities Veteran Build is underway. Dennis and Patti Frist are chairpersons of the build committee. Other members of the committee include Doug Taylor, Faith Killian Fassnacht, Annie Fassnacht, and Pam and Larry Mow.

The person for whom this home will be built must meet the following criteria:

* a desire for affordable

housing

* The Habitat for Humanity criteria

* an honorably discharged veteran, the widow or widower of an honorably discharged veteran or an active member of a local National Guard or reserve unit,

* be a resident of the Carroll, White or Tippecanoe county area.

A committee of local veteran organizations will assist in the selection process. Dedication of the home is set for Veteran's Day 2009.
