Educators invited to nominate students for Day in College

Comet staff report

The Purdue College of Technology at Kokomo is encouraging teachers and guidance counselors to nominate students to attend the Day in College event Nov. 3 that will give students a sneak peek at what college has to offer.

Day in College is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Purdue College of Technology at Kokomo campus at Indiana University- Kokomo's Kelley Student Center, Room 130.

Christy Bozic, director of the Kokomo location, said the event is geared toward high school juniors and seniors in the following counties: Howard, Miami, Wabash, Grant, Tipton, Clinton, Carroll and Cass. She said teachers and counselors can nominate as many college-prepared students as they wish. The deadline for nominations is Friday.

Bozic said the program would be most beneficial to students who have not yet made a commitment to a college, have an interest in College of Technology programs, are working toward completing college-preparatory math courses, and those who prefer a smaller campus or a campus close to the Kokomo area.

At the Nov. 3 event, each participant will experience a typical day in college by attending short college classes, and they and their parents will have an opportunity to meet with professors and members of student services staff who can provide information about admissions and financial aid.

Purdue College of Technology at Kokomo offers programs in computer graphics technology, computer and information technology, electrical and computer engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, and organizational leadership and supervision.
