Flora-Monroe Twp.

The Flora Public Library is a member of the Shared Catalog of Indiana Online (SCION.) SCION is the latest version of a shared catalog for smaller Indiana libraries that has become a valuable resource sharing tool for many libraries of all sizes and types throughout the state.

SCION library members have migrated to a new open source web-based library automation system, Koha ZOOM. We ask for patrons' patience during the migration process.

There are a few changes with Koha. Fines have increased to: books, 10¢ a day, and books on tape or compact disc are $1.00 a day. Patrons are now allowed to check out three video items at a time and will have a three-day checkout period for them.

As we embark on new technology changes we also invite you to step back in time. The Flora Library is 90 years old this year. It was built in 1918 with a grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. The display cases on the main level are filled with library and community memories. Take a few moments to reflect on just a few of the library's archival collection, and look at just how far we have come in the past 90 years.

The theme for the next storytime will be Leaves. Autumn is here, the leaves are falling, the wind is blowing, and we have lots of fun stories to celebrate the season. Preschool storytime is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

Currently playing on Dial-a- Story is "Injun Summer." On Friday the story changes to "Goops and Others." Call Dial-a-Story at 967-3814.
