Robert E. Hathaway
Robert E. Hathaway, 82, of Bennettsville, S.C., died Sept. 23, 2008.
Born Sept. 24, 1925, in Idaville, he was the son of the late Earl and Hazel McClellan Hathaway. His marriage was to Mildred Dock, who preceded him in death in 2004.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific.
Mr. Hathaway was retired from United Technologies, where he was plant manager.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bennettsville.
Surviving are two sons, Doug E. Hathaway (wife: Allyson) of Irmo, S.C., and Brian T. Hathaway of Bennettsville; six brothers, George Hathaway (wife: Georgia) of Jamestown, Ky., Marion Hathaway (wife: Janet) of Camden, Donald Hathaway of Hemmett, Calif., Orville Hathaway (wife: Fran) of Delphi, Tom Hathaway (wife: Jane) of Indianapolis, and Wayne Hathaway of Kokomo; four sisters, Nellie Peters of Camden, Lucille Geisler of Burnettsville, Jessie Allen of Franklin, and Edna Capper of Monticello; and one grandson.
A memorial service was held Sept. 27 in Bennettsville.
