Beloved father, Charles A. Widner, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, after suffering in stage four from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma since April 2006, including complications.

Born Nov. 7, 1932, in Delphi, he was the son of James "Jim" and Lena Widner. He resided in Delphi until he and his wife, the former Patricia A. Haas, moved to Zephyrhills, Fla., in 1994.

Charles worked for Globe Valve for many years, for Duncan Meters in Lafayette for several years, and retired from Purdue University.

He was a brilliant historian, expert shooter and loved to collect and trade guns of all makes and models. He was a boxer when he was younger. He could also dance his shoes off.

Charles served in the United States Air Force and was a long-time member of the American Legion Post in Delphi.

Charles was loved by many people who knew him. He leaves behind his daughter, Juna, and her husband, Orlander Brown, of Florida. They had the pleasure of taking care of him for the last two years.

A daughter, Marlyn, and husband, Barry Roland, moved to Texas a few years ago.

Also surviving are four grandsons and five greatgrandchildren. There are many loving nephews from Logansport and nieces from Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his lovely wife Patricia, two brothers, a sister, and a grandson.
