Ribbon cutting ceremonies and an open house were held to celebrate the newest home of the Burlington Library. Since its opening in 1981, the library has been in several locations. The recent acquisition of the former NAPA building at the corner of state roads 29 and 22 was made by Burlington Community Club which donated it to the library.
Neighbors were awakened by an explosion early Sunday morning, which took the life of one man and injured another. The home located northwest of Burlington, was a total loss. The two had drenched the interior of the house with gasoline, and it exploded before they could clear the building.

Almost anyone would agree that the traffic in Delphi has increased tremendously in recent years but Lee Orr made an actual count about 6:00 o'clock Monday evening and found that 100 cars passed a spot on Main street in a 5 minute period which figures 1200 cars per hour. Apparently the odds against pedestrians is getting pretty great.
The county commissioners seemed a trifle downcast at luncheon on Wednesday. They were facing an afternoon of road and bridge inspections over the rain washed county roads-and it was raining again! They glumly reported that one road has no less than five bridges washed out on it. When asked if traffic was slow out that way, one member said that a few strong swimmers were still getting through.

After lopping $8,115 from the county budget, the county council set the county tax rate for 1934 at 31 1/2 cents, 16 1/2 cents less than proposed.
The council attempted to cut in every place that they could. The registration of voters was cut from $1,400 to about $900. The county nurse was cut from $700 to $500. Election expenses were cut in several places. Operating expenses of the court house was reduced from that asked. No radical reductions were made.

Thursdy afternoon the peanut roaster in the Fritts store at Delphi exploded. The roaster was standing in the east window of the room and the explosion blew out the plate glass in both the front and side windows, smashed up one of his best show cases, destroyed several dollars worth of candy and did other damage. The roaster was completely wrecked.
Mr. Fritts was standing by the machine and was knocked down, receiving a small cut on his back and several bruises.
