Consuelo M. Pierson
Consuelo "Connie" Maria Garcia Pierson, 81, formerly of Indianapolis, died at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at her daughter's home near Camden. She had been in ill health the past nine months.
Born Feb. 20, 1927, in Gary, she was the daughter of the late Pedro and Matilda Lopez Garcia.
Mrs. Pierson graduated from Emerson High School, Gary, in 1945. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in education and a Masters degree in literature and journalism from Indiana University, Bloomington.
Mrs. Pierson was a primary school teacher for many years, retiring in 1981. She then worked as a clerk for the Federal Court in Indianapolis for 13 years before retiring in 1996.
She was baptized and raised Roman Catholic and belonged to the I.U. Alumni Association.
Mrs. Pierson was an avid reader, enjoyed nature, especially bird watching. She deeply loved her family.
Surviving are two daughters, April Miller of Carmel and Anita Smith (husband: David R.) of Camden; two sons, Christopher Pierson (wife: Melissa) of Oceanside, Calif. and Daniel Pierson (companion: Summer Jourdan) of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Candy Brady (husband: John) of Lawrence; and six grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a grandson.
A mass was held Sept. 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi. Burial followed at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora. Father Peter Vanderkolk officiated.
