The grand finale program of "Carroll County on the Same Page" was held at our library last Wednesday evening. In keeping with the book, "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle," the evening revolved around gardening.

Speakers were Teresa Dailey on "Attracting Butterflies and Hummingbirds"; Sue Burge on "Soil Samples and Testing" before planting; and Judy Berkshire, tips on "Gardening and Growing Your Own Vegetables."

Berkshire had a large basket filled with beautiful vegetables from her own garden. She encouraged everyone to become gardeners.

Refreshments were served using recipes from the book. Food included zucchini chocolate chip cookies, strawberryrhubarb crisp, four season potato salad, and summertime salad with tomatoes. Tea was served by the Literary Club.

The book is still available at the Camden, Flora, and Delphi libraries. The libraries appreciate all the people who took part in Carroll County on the Same Page this year.

'Hear Ye, Hear Ye! All Ye Lords and Ladies,' grades second through five may come and join in on the merriment with "Medieval Knights and Ladies" from Oct. 6 through Nov. 10. Return to the classics with book discussion and film review of John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men." The short novel creates a portrait of two men facing a world marked by petty tyranny, misunderstanding and jealousy. Although the scope is narrow the theme is universal - a friendship and shared dream which makes individual existence meaningful. The evening begins with food and a short film preview at 7 p.m.

Delphi Saxophone Quartet will perform at the Coffee Beat Oct. 25. Local musicians Anita Werling, Jay Dennison, Andy Cougill and Bethanny Cougill will entertain with a collection of jazz, classic and a fair sprinkling of some seasonal songs. The coffee and music are free and start at 7 p.m.
