Carroll ladies prepare for Golf Sectional
Carroll will play in the Lafayette Sectional at the Lafayette Municipal Golf Course this Saturday. Megan Garrison will be defending her sectional title from last year. She has advanced to the Regionals the past three years and will try to make it four, with hopes of advancing to the State Finals. She has come up two strokes shy of advancing each of the past two years.
Last week the Carroll Girls Golf team played some tough opponents and came up a little short, but the effort was there.
On Sept. 8, the Cougars traveled to Green Acres Golf Course to take on Northwestern. Carroll lost 174 to 200. Garrison was medalist and led Carroll with a 1 over par 37. The other Carroll scores were: Taylor Sproul 46, Malena Zook 54, Kirstin Arkwright 63, Emma Packard 72 and Katie Unger 78.
Sept. 9th was a 3-way match at the Frankfort Country Club with Frankfort and Tipton. Carroll finished second with a 208, behind Frankfort with 201. Tipton finished third with a 213. Garrison was medalist with a 41. Carroll's scoring was rounded out by Sproul with 52, Zook 53, Arkwright 62, Packard 64 and Unger 66.
Sept. 11 found the Cougars at Coyote Crossing Golf Course in Lafayette on a rainy evening taking on Harrison and Central Catholic. Harrison won with a 180, followed by CC with 183 and Carroll 211. Garrison was co-medalist with a 2 over 38. Other Cougar scores were Sproul 54, Zook 57, Arkwright 65, Packard 62, and Unger 64.
The Cougars ended regular season with 6 wins and 8 losses on its toughest schedule yet.
"I'm very proud of all the girls," commented Carroll Coach Erin Garrison. "They've worked hard all season and have had fun along the way. We've seen some personal bests from each girl on the team and have continued to improve on their scores all season."
