Anthony Edward "Tony" Stephen, 38, of rural Cutler, died at 10:33 a.m. Tuesday,

Sept. 16,

2008, at University Hospital, Indianapolis. He had battled lymphoma for the past five months.

He was born June 27, 1970, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, to Edward Lincoln and Cheryl Kay Sibray Stephen.

He graduated from Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School in 1988 and attended St. Joseph's College, Rensselaer where he studied music.

On Sept. 28, 1996, at Geetingsville, he married Michele L. Peters. They later divorced.

Tony was employed as a supervisor at Bennett's Greenhouse in Lafayette, and was a member of the Army National Guard's 38th Battalion Band.

He loved gardening, music and his son.

Surviving are one son, Colin Joseph Stephen of Flora; his mother and stepfather, Cheryl K. and Theodore J. Donoho of Cutler; his father, Edward L. Stephen of Muncie; a stepbrother, Chad A. Donoho (wife: Donna) of Pass Christian, Miss.; a half sister, Stacy Stephen; and a stepnephew, Blake Donoho of Pass Christian.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Loretta Sibray; his paternal grandparents, George and Mary Stephen; and his stepgrandmother, Arlene VanTyle.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Reinke Funeral Home, Flora. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
