Russell A. Reeves, 24, of California, formerly of Brookston, died of a drug overdose near a Laguna Beach hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008.

Born Dec. 4, 1983, he was the son of Gary Reeves and Vivian (Schafer) Reeves,

He served three tours in Iraq in combat roles, as infantryman, SAW-gunner, and Squad Leader, and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. Recently, he worked in Laguna Beach, Calif.

Surviving are his mother and father; a sister, Aleshia Rohrer (husband: Steve); a brother, Marcus Reeves; a niece, Grace Rohrer; stepfather, Dave McDowell; stepmother, Lorie (Hershman) Reeves; stepbrother, Aaron Hershman; and grandmother, Rowena Hawley.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Brookston Federated Church. Interment with full military honors will follow at Brookston IOOF Cemetery.
