Delphi Public
Everything will be Just Ducky at Story Time this week. Children's librarian Marcia Sledd has some fun activities planned for Family Story Time at 7 p.m. on Sept. 9 and for each of the morning story times on Sept. 11. Baby Lap-sit starts at 9:30, Toddlers at 10 and Pre-school at 11:30. Waddle on over to the library and Marcia will see that you have a ducky time with songs, stories and activities that are all about our fabulous feathered friends.
Start a project now that will see you through the winter months by joining In Stitches Fiber Arts Circle when they gather for their monthly meeting Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Bring a project you have started, or if you are entertaining the notion of beginning a quilt, scarf, sweater or any fiber project, come and members will get you inspired and ready to tackle a project.
An all day free workshop, Photography Artshop is set for Oct. 18. Professional photographer and instructor Dan Rhine will facilitate the day. The Artshop will start off at the Delphi Public Library for introductions and instruction. From there, participants will take a foot tour to capture images of historic buildings, local landmarks and other points of interest. The morning will progress with a walk along Deer Creek and nature trails. After an afternoon break, we meet back at the library to take the Trolley to a nearby farm to explore and shoot photos of barns, bridges and the wonders of an autumn evening. The Artshop experience will culminate with a photography exhibition that will be hung in the Ruffing Building in downtown Delphi. A date for the show will be determined later. Space is limited so sign up early. Call the library for details and requirements of the event at (765) 564-2929.
Flora-Monroe Twp.
The library will open at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, due to staff training.
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Flora Library joins the Indiana Shared Library Catalog (ISLC), in a catalog migration to Koha ZOOM, an open source web-based staff client.
The ISLC is a diverse, multi-type resource sharing network composed of 30 member libraries including an art museum, the Indiana Supreme Court Library and a wide range of public and school libraries throughout the state. LibLime's Koha ZOOM solution will provide ISLC membership with a shared integrated library automation system.
Please be patient during the conversion process; it may take more time for transactions as we switch over to Koha. With the transition to Koha the library is increasing overdue book fines to ten cents a day.
Join the library's book discussion group as we discuss "Wish You Well" by David Baldacci. Baldacci has made a name for himself crafting legal thrillers with largerthan life plots. However, "Wish You Well," set in his native Virginia, is a tale of hope and wonder and "something of a miracle" just itching to happen. The group meets in the Flora Senior Center on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m.
The theme for the next storytime will be Curious George. There will be adorable monkey stories including everyone's favorite, Curious George! Preschool storytime is Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.
