Camden Town Council will hold a public hearing in the library's Reading Room to adopt its 2009 budget and to open bids on the housing development rehabilitation grant at 7 p.m. Thursday. The regular monthly meeting will follow. The council will hold public hearings at 10 a.m. Sept. 16 concerning a proposed application to the Northwest Solid Waste District for funds to purchase a new leaf vacuum and at 10 a.m. Sept. 18 to accept bids for the housing development rehabilitation grant. The latter two hearings will be held in the Town Office.

Camden Woman's Literary Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the library's Reading Room. Installation of officers and presentation of the yearbook and budget will be held. Membership dues will be due. Hostesses will be Jane Penn and Maryanna Selvidge.

Women's Missionary Society of the Baptist Church will meet at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the church with Sue Wertz as hostess. Bible book of the month is Obadiah.

Aim Hi E.H. Club will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the home of Barb Jones with Justine Crume assisting.

The Kentucky Mountain Mission Truck will be at the Community Building to pick-up items Sept. 27-28.

Camden Fall Festival will be Saturday and Sunday. The event will include town-wide yard sales, vendors, car corral, automotive and mechanical swap meet, and drawings. Rain date will be the Sept. 20-21.

Mary Whitfield accompanied Bob and Mary Frances Stilson to Morley, Mich., to visit Harvey and Betty Stilson over the Labor Day weekend. After returning, guests of Mrs. Whitfield included Gene Whitfield and Paula Eckler, John David and Karen Whitfield, Frank Daniel, Shanell, Zackery and Chelsea Whitfield, and Goldie and George Trapp.
