Canal volunteers, aided by a backhoe and dump truck supplied by the City of Delphi, made short work of cleaning up the burnt debris from the CANAL BOAT ARSON FIRE. Dan McCain, canal association president, estimates that it will take about two months to rebuild the destroyed part of the full-scale, stationary boat. Additional volunteers are welcome to help with the project on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8-11. McCain said all donations received will first be used for the repairs, and any extra will be used toward the 10 trailside exhibit sites that are currently being developed. Tax deductible donations may be sent to: Wabash & Erie Canal Association, c/o Annadell Lamb, 50 Redwood Court, Lafayette, IN 47905.
