Cougars win first-ever HHC soccer championship
      The Carroll varsity soccer team won the Hoosier Heartland Conference championship with a 3-2 overtime victory over Central Catholic last Thursday night. The Cougars improved to 5-0 on the season. With rain on and off throughout the night Carroll's Chase Meade started the scoring just 6 minutes into the game.

Cougars hammer Trojans
      The chant on the sidelines from the Carroll players when their offense and defense are on the field is - hammer, hammer, hammer. The Cougars gave the Tri Central Trojans a 65-0 clawing Friday night. And the Cougars hammered - they outmanned, outplayed and physically manhandled their opponent.

Oracles overmatched by WL
      The Oracle football team lost to the 4th-ranked West Lafayette Red Devils Friday night. The lop-sided score was 62-6. The Oracles are still winless after three games against teams that are a combined 8- 1 on the season, with two of the teams ranked in the top ten in the state.

3 Cougars record personal best golf scores
      Carroll's Lady Cougar golf team has been playing well and improving all season. On Aug. 26, the Cougars played Taylor and Eastern in a home match at Angel Hill Golf Course. Carroll won with a 202 over Taylor with a 208 and Eastern 225. Carroll was led by senior Megan Garrison's 41 followed by Taylor Sproul with 47, Malena Zook 52 and Katie Unger 62. Garrison was medalist.

Cougar XC off to a fast start
      Carroll high school boys and girls cross country teams have started the 2008 season with some good performances. Coach Mike Miller, entering his 30th year of coaching cross county, has high expectations for this bunch of runners. "I believe that both teams have an opportunity to get very deep into the tournament this year," he said.

      West Lafayette downs Oracle JV The JV Oracles came out on the short end last week, losing to West Lafayette 33-6. Matt Brown had 97 yards rushing for Delphi and Karson Bender had 53 yards. Shane Hyman caught his first ever career touchdown. It was a 67-yard pass from Brown.
