Lessons from the Heart
You go to church every Sunday. You play. You give. You may even read the Bible. You believe in God. You may even hold a position in a church. But, the real question is, do you know Jesus Christ as your personal savior?
Have you ever asked Him to forgive you or your sins and to come into your heart? This is what life is all about.
You say, "Well, I try to be a good person." How good is good enough? How many good works would you say you have to do to know you're saved?
In Ephesians 2:8-9, the Bible is very clear about salvation. First of all, we see saved through faith and not by works. Faith is Jesus Christ atoning death at the cross is the only means of salvation. Salvation is not about what church you go to, it's about what Jesus Christ did at the cross.
Secondly, Paul says we cannot save ourselves. Salvation is a gift. It cannot be earned or worked for. God gave it as a gift because we were not capable of working for it. That is why salvation is by grace.
How do you receive Jesus as your savior? First, you acknowledge your sin before Him. Romans 3:23 says we have all sinned.
Secondly, you ask Him to forgive you of your sin. Acts 2:38 says we must repent.
Thirdly, you tell Him you are surrendering your life to Him. He will give you a new identity (II Corinthians 5:17). He will give you eternal life (Romans 6:23). He will set you free from sin (Romans 6:7).
God loves you (John 3:16) more than you can comprehend.
